Program: 25-day Pottery Making in Seto – With Guidance
Start date: 1st September 2024

Message:
I just finished my 25-day program from 9/1 – 9/25/2024.
When I first set foot in Seto, I felt the town at its own pace.
But I felt different vibes when I saw ceramic studios all around town.
Seto is a small town, and the shops are easy to walk from the Seto train station.
Seto Gura Museum is also a must-go place where you can learn about the history of Seto.
Although time passed quickly, I felt I’d made progress.
Kato Sensei is a very kind person, and his apprentice Amber have been very generous with their knowledge.
From day one, I immersed myself in a ritual of ceramic making, which I enjoyed so much.
Sensei would give us demonstrations; we would then go on making what we’ve learned.
During the Seto Moto Matsuri (せともの祭り)9/14 – 9/15, more than 200 ceramics artists were selling their works, and it was an excellent opportunity to see various works from artists local and out-of-town.
The attendees were very supportive of the artists.
I want to return to Seto to experience a cooler Seto and learn from Sensei again.
I would also highly recommend this program to people who want to immerse themselves in the making mood, learn about Seto, and enjoy some Seto food.
